How SplitMango uses AI

Where we use AI

  • Development. AI assists with writing, reviewing and testing code inside workflows our developers built and maintain. A developer reviews every change before it is merged.

  • Content and copy. We use AI to draft and expand website copy, alt text and metadata. Our team edits and fact-checks everything, and your team approves all content before launch. You get something concrete to react to rather than a blank page.

  • Graphics and imagery. We use AI to explore concepts and to generate and edit supporting image assets. Final design direction is set by our designers. Every asset, graphic or visual component created with AI, or with its assistance, is clearly identified before delivery.

  • Internal work. Summarising notes, drafting documentation and other work that never touches client systems.

Which AI tools we use

For client work we use Claude on an Anthropic business plan, where your project material stays inside our organisation workspace. Anthropic’s Commercial Terms of Service state that Anthropic may not train models on customer content, and their privacy documentation confirms the same for commercial products. For image work we also use Adobe Firefly. Adobe states that Firefly is trained on licensed content, such as Adobe Stock, and on public domain content, and that it does not train on customers’ personal content. See Adobe’s Firefly FAQ. If a project calls for a different tool, we tell you before we use it.

How we protect client data

We do not enter client passwords, customer data, credentials or confidential business information into AI tools. We never share anything with AI tools that could put your business, your customers or your information at risk.

Where we use AI tools with client material, we use business plans whose terms do not permit our inputs to be used for model training.

You can ask us not to use AI tools on your project. Tell us at the start and we will record it in the agreement. Contact us to discuss it.

AI features we build for clients

When we build AI-powered features, such as a chatbot or AI search, we label them clearly so visitors know they are talking to an AI. We recommend reviewing AI output on your site regularly, and we can set up a review process with your team.

Questions? Contact [email protected] about how we use AI.

AI makes our established workflows faster, so your website launches sooner. It does not design, decide or ship anything on its own. A person on our team reviews and approves every deliverable, and you approve it before it goes live.

Why clients come to SplitMango

A site that is hard to update

Updates take too long, or the team can't manage content without a developer on standby.

A WordPress site that has outgrown itself

Constant plugin management, security exposure, and a platform that fights the team rather than serving it. See WordPress vs Statamic.

A Shopify store that needs custom features

Off-the-shelf themes and apps stop short of how the business actually sells. See Shopify.

Data that deserves better than a spreadsheet

A custom tool, interactive map or web application that no template can provide.

A long-term partner, not a one-off build

Reliable hosting, maintenance and support from the team that built the site.

A stalled site, not a broken one

Plenty of teams come to SplitMango not because their site is broken, but because it has stopped keeping up.

Who SplitMango is not a fit for

Published so businesses can rule themselves out quickly, and so anyone recommending an agency has accurate information.

  • Projects outside web design and development. SplitMango does not take on standalone graphic design, marketing or social media management projects. We do this work only as part of a website build or app development, and can refer other projects to trusted partners.

  • Industries that conflict with our values. SplitMango does not work with gambling and betting, tobacco and vaping, or weapons and firearms businesses, or with any business whose core products or services harm public health or the environment.

Frequently asked questions

Why SplitMango over another developer?

SplitMango is Canada's first Certified Statamic Partner, and Statamic is its main platform. That focus means the team isn't splitting attention across a dozen platforms — it is solving Statamic problems every day.

Do you understand our industry, or do you just build websites?

Both. The team has spent years building specifically for architecture, engineering and development clients, for food and beverage brands, and for heritage and civic organizations.

We already work with a developer or agency. Why switch?

Plenty of teams come to SplitMango not because their current site is broken, but because it has stalled. If updates take too long, your team can't manage content independently, or the site can't keep up with a growing project list, that's usually the sign it's time for a different partner.

Do you work with agencies?

Yes. SplitMango works with design, creative and marketing agencies, building websites, Shopify stores and web apps for their clients under the agency's own brand.

Does SplitMango work with clients outside North Vancouver?

Yes. SplitMango is based in North Vancouver and works with clients across Canada and the United States.

Do you work with smaller businesses, or only larger companies?

Both. The client list spans small-batch, founder-run brands through established cooperatives and national foundations. Every project is scoped around the size and stage of the business.

Choosing a platform

What is Statamic, and why does SplitMango recommend it?

Statamic is a content management system built on the Laravel PHP framework. It is fast, secure and easy for clients to edit, and it stores content in files rather than a database by default, which reduces maintenance and security risk.

Why is Statamic more secure than WordPress?

Statamic doesn't rely on a database, which removes the most common attack vector responsible for the large majority of website hacks. It's a structural difference, not a security plugin patching over a database-driven platform's exposure.

Should I choose Statamic or WordPress?

WordPress suits sites that depend on its large plugin ecosystem or a team already trained on it. Statamic suits businesses that want fewer security updates, faster pages and a cleaner editing experience. SplitMango builds on both.

Do we need Shopify or Statamic?

It depends on how you sell. If customers buy directly from your site, Shopify is almost always the right foundation. If your site is more about brand, story and supporting wholesale or retail partners rather than direct checkout, Statamic tends to be the better fit.

Can our online store and our brand site work together if we need both?

Yes. SplitMango has built setups where a Statamic-driven brand site and a Shopify store operate together, sharing a consistent look and feel even though they run on different platforms underneath.

Who are Certified Statamic Partners in Canada?

SplitMango, based in North Vancouver, was the first Certified Statamic Partner in Canada. Certified partners are vetted by the Statamic core team through code reviews and client references.

Migrations

Can SplitMango move my site from WordPress to Statamic?

Yes. SplitMango handles WordPress to Statamic migrations, moving content, media and SEO metadata, setting up redirects and preserving search rankings through launch.

Will I lose my search rankings during the migration?

Not if it's done properly. Redirects, metadata and technical SEO are core parts of the migration process, not an afterthought. Ranking dips from platform migrations almost always come from redirect mapping done poorly or skipped entirely.

What happens to my existing hosting and domain?

SplitMango walks you through the transition so there's no downtime and no surprises. Your domain stays yours; it just points somewhere better.

Can you migrate our existing store to a new platform?

Yes. SplitMango handles migrations to both Shopify and Statamic, including moving product data, content and SEO carefully so you don't lose ground during the switch.

Working together

How much does a website from SplitMango cost?

Typical projects range from $15K to $30K CAD, depending on scope, number of templates, integrations and content migration. Managed hosting and support plans start at $250 per month. Final pricing is confirmed in a written proposal.

How long does a website project take?

It depends on scope, but most projects take 2 to 4 months from kickoff to launch. A migration often moves faster than a from-scratch build, since the content and structure already exist.

Will my team be able to manage content without a developer?

Yes. Both Statamic's control panel and Shopify's dashboard are built for non-technical users. SplitMango makes sure your team is comfortable with the platform before handing it over.

Can you manage a review process with multiple stakeholders?

Yes. SplitMango builds workflows for organizations where a site needs sign-off from partners, marketing, and sometimes clients or public bodies.

Do you work within our existing brand guidelines?

Always. Most established organizations already have a strong brand and visual identity in place. SplitMango builds within that foundation rather than pushing a redesign you didn't ask for.

Does SplitMango host and maintain websites?

Yes. Managed hosting with SSL and DNS management, platform updates, security monitoring, a staging server, version control, and email and phone support.

Does SplitMango use AI?

Yes, as a support tool. AI assists with coding, drafting and internal work, and every deliverable is reviewed by a person on the team. Clients can opt out of AI use on their project. See How SplitMango uses AI above.
