Increase organic traffic through localized keywords

Published April 1st, 2009 by David

I’m sure you’ve heard this before and you will continue to hear it as long people are building websites: what’s the use of having a website if no one knows it exists? It is as true today as it was 10 years ago and that’s why SEO is extremely important in making your website known and easily accessible by search engine users.

With some very simple SEO you can easily increase your traffic significantly within a few weeks. The great thing about being a Realtor is that your business is geographically specific, meaning your targeted search terms will be geographically specific as well. This cuts out the majority of your competition who are dealing with real estate in areas not affecting you. With some quick Meta and Title tags, you can focus your site on geo-specific keywords that will immediately draw highly targeted visitors who are actively seeking out your services.

Unlike websites that sell products of services to a North American audience, Realtor’s have a huge advantage over organic search results in that they can immediately cut out 90% of competing Realtor’s by focusing search on key areas in your market. Keep away from broad, general terms that will expand your competition perimeter. Using keywords like “Realtor”, “Real Estate” and “Sell Your Home” will put you straight into a global competition with millions of other Realtor’s around the world, because it does not state where you are located and what areas you specialize in. Focusing your keywords to only areas you handle will drastically reduce your competition and increase your rankings on the search engines within weeks of deployment. Combine the above keyword examples with cities, towns and areas you sell homes in, and you will open your site’s visibility to a new audience that otherwise would not know you exist.
